Leadership Christian Academy once again teamed up with Highmark's Caring Place this year to bring "heroes of hope" and an understanding of Children's Grief Awareness Day. The students were able to dress up like heroes, learn about what a grieving child may be feeling this time of year and create posters/cards that express hope to those children. LCA's 1st & 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Spicher, had students focus on Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Children's Grief Awareness Day is a time set aside to show children who have experienced the death of someone close that they are not alone, and that they are supported in their grief. Illuminating HOPE is a special opportunity for the community to come together to let grieving children know that they are not forgotten and to help them to find the light of HOPE.
